About Me
Big bellies and glowing Mommies absolutely fascinate me. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been captivated by them. As I got older, my interest grew into a passion for child birth and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. It was only natural for me to want to learn the art of birth assistance and to embrace my own natural abilities to provide support and comfort. I completed my certification through DONA (Doulas of North America) and have been assisting births since June of 2006. In April of 2007, I became a Lactation Counselor through Nursing Mothers Council of Santa Cruz. I am also a certified HypnoBirthing Practitioner and have been teaching since October of 2007. And just recently, I became a certified Post Partum Doula. I have a B.A. in Anthropology from UC Santa Cruz.
In April of 2011, I co-founded along with Leticia Moran (the owner) a Yoga and Childbirth Resource Center called Butterfly Elements in Austin, TX. Classes offered include yoga for pregnant and new moms, childbirth prep classes, and other unique classes and workshops. I curently live in San Jose, CA.
Currently, I teach HypnoBirthing as well as a 1-day Childbirth Prep Intensive and a 1-day private childbirth labor practice in the comforts of your home or in mine.
In November of 2009, I gave birth to my first child, Wyatt James Abeloos. He arrived on November 9th, 2009 at 9:38pm. He weighed 8lb 5oz and was 21 inches long. He is adorable and quite a good baby. The labor was rough but I did it! Hard work always pays off and of course I had not just one doula, but 2!!! I can say firsthand that doulas make ALL the difference, and I will never have a baby without one! On January 4th, 2013, I gave birth to my second child, a little girl, Lavender Vicotrine Abeloos. Through this wonderful experience of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood I feel a much deeper connection to the birth world around me and it has motivated me even further to continue working with and supporting expectant families.
