Postpartum Doula Services
I am pleased to provide postpartum doula services to the families of the South Bay and it's surrounding areas. Research evidence shows that the quality services of a postpartum doula can ease the transition that comes with the addition of a baby to a family, improve parental satisfaction and reduce the risk of mood disorders. We can help nurture the mother by offering her emotional support, helping her to recover faster and find the confidence she and her partner needs to meet the challenges of a new baby.
Postpartum Support Services Include:
- Facilitating the emotional and physical recovery from birth
- Assistance/education with infant care
- Fostering family bonding
- Breastfeeding support (referral to a lactation consultant if needed)
- Spending time with the baby so family will have time to rest
- Running errands and shopping for groceries
- Assisting in household organization
- Organizing nursery and doing baby's laundry
- Preparing nutritious food
- Offering a listening, non-judgmental ear
- Phone contact as needed
My Philosophy
My philosophy supports the notion that there is ultimately no right way to be a parent. My job is to guide you to find the way that best fits your family. I contribute this guidance without interference or judgment, while offering information based on my education and experience gained during several years as a childcare professional. I hope to troubleshoot and build confidence while parents learn to trust their parental instincts. As the needs of the family changes over the time, as does the role of the postpartum doula. And eventually I will 'work my way out of the job.'
Nutrition For Mom
I believe nutrition is the BEST way to secure a truly low risk pregnancy and a healthy postpartum/lactation period. The food we put into our bodies is not only fuel but medicine for our bodies. My services include meal preparation for you and the whole family. One day of my services is dedicated to preparing meals for the rest of the week. I even do the grocery shopping. I pay very close attention to not only the deliciousness of my meals--but the quality! Pregnant moms need foods that benefit the baby and her soon to be birthing body. New moms need blood building foods to repair and replenish the body after childbirth. They also need foods for healthy lactation. I follow the Weston A. Price (WAP) philosophy of consuming nutrient-dense whole foods and the vital fat-soluble activators found exclusively in animal fats. I will of course adjust meals if you are vegan or vegetarian.
Nutrition for Baby
Breastmilk for the first year of life and beyond is the best nourishment for your baby. Breastfeeding is biologically correct and normal--human milk is what mother nature intended us to feed our babies. But what if you have supply issues or other personal reasons for not being able to exclusively breastfeed your baby? Do you turn to commercial formula? NO! There is a better alternative out there that is safer and healthier for your baby. I have first hand experience of how homemade formula can dramatically improve the health of your baby. My services include making the formula for you, bringing all the supplies with me and making the formula in your own kitchen. The Weston A. Price (WAP) foundation has researched and compared every commercial formula and found them to fall short. Through much research and study they came up with this formula that is the closest thing to mother's milk. For more information about the WAP formula that I make, please contact me.
