Big bellies and glowing Mommies absolutely fascinate me. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been captivated by them. As I got older, my interest grew into a passion for child birth and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. It was only natural for me to want to learn the art of birth assistance and to embrace my own natural abilities to provide support and comfort. I completed my certification through DONA (Doulas of North America) and have been assisting births since June of 2006. In April of 2007, I became a Lactation Counselor through Nursing Mothers Council of Santa Cruz. I am also a certified HypnoBirthing Practitioner and have been teaching since October of 2007. In 2009, I became a certified Post Partum Doula. And just recently, in 2012 I completed a training to become a prenatal yoga instructor. I also have a B.A. in Anthropology from UC Santa Cruz.
In April of 2011, I co-founded along with Leticia Moran (the owner) a Yoga and Childbirth Resource Center called Butterfly Elements in Austin, TX. Classes offered include yoga for pregnant and new moms, childbirth prep classes, and other unique classes and workshops. I moved back to San Jose, Ca in October of 2011. I recently moved to Atascadero, Ca (San Luis Obispo County) in February of 2015 and this is where I currently reside with my husband and 2 kids. I co-own a CBD bodycare company called Mender as the Apothecary.
In November of 2009, I gave birth to my first child, Wyatt James Abeloos. He arrived on November 9th, 2009 at 9:38pm. He weighed 8lb 5oz and was 21 inches long. He is adorable and quite a good baby. The labor was rough but I did it! Hard work always pays off and of course I had not just one doula, but 2!!! I can say firsthand that doulas make ALL the difference, and I will never have a baby without one! On January 4th, 2013, I gave birth to my second child, a little girl, Lavender Victorine Abeloos. Through this wonderful experience of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood I feel a much deeper connection to the birth world around me and it has motivated me even further to continue working with and supporting expectant families.
