About Vanessa…

But aren’t you a doula? Yes! And it is an important chapter in my own health journey; let me begin … big bellies and glowing mommies have always fascinated me. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been captivated by them. As I got older, my interest grew into a passion for child birth and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. It was only natural for me to want to learn the art of birth assistance and to embrace my own natural abilities to provide support and comfort. I’ve been a Birth and Postpartum Doula and a Lactation Counselor since 2006. I am also a certified HypnoBirthing Practitioner and have been teaching since October of 2007. In April of 2011, I co-founded along with Leticia Moran (the owner) a Yoga and Childbirth Resource Center called Butterfly Elements in Austin, TX. Classes offered included yoga for pregnant and new moms, childbirth prep classes, and other unique classes and workshops. In 2012 I completed a training to become a Prenatal Yoga Instructor. In 2015, I moved to Atascadero, Ca and this is where I currently reside with my husband,Diego and 2 children — Wyatt and Lavender.

My own health journey started about 6 years ago, when my babies started to get older and more independent. I experienced SO many changes: my body, my skin, my digestion, my mood, and my energy levels. I used to be able to eat anything … and then suddenly I couldn’t. Sound familiar? I started to explore many paths to essentially turn back the hands of time and slow the aging processes I was experiencing. It’s rough heading into your 40’s! Throughout my own journey, I’ve gained first-hand experience with many diets: keto, paleo, vegetation, vegan, whole-30, intuitive eating, calorie restriction, intermittent fasting, and raw. Physically, I’m experienced with incorporating yoga, pilates, HIIT training and low impact exercises. It’s not like all of those things didn’t work – many certainly did; but one was not better or worse than the other! And that’s the beauty of it. My health journey has taught me that it’s ok to see what works and what doesn’t. And that’s what I want to do with the men and women I work. Find out what can work and what doesn’t—based on you as a unique individual.
